There are a lot of really exciting things happening right now for Texas Eta! The rest of the semester is pretty jam-packed with fun events and activities!
First, New Member Presentation is on Friday night, which continues our Initiation week. Remembering back to when I was a New Member, I know how exciting it is and how anxious our New Members must feel right now. I can also remember being a Big Sis during this process and how exciting and anxious you can also feel during this time for different reasons. To those wonderful Big Sis’s- first and foremost, you are wonderful. Remember a year ago.. you were the one who was going through Initiation- how exciting! Remember to make your Little Sis’s experience just as special as yours.
Then, Monday the 24th, we have our Kisses for Troops event at the house from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. We are so excited and honored to have been chosen to host one of these events around the country. We are so thankful for everything our troops have done and given up for us to live without worry. We cannot wait to show them just a small token of our appreciation for everything they do!
That next night we have our Halloween Date Party with ΔΔΔ. Everyone start thinking of your favorite costumes! I’ve already heard some really good ones! Going along with the theme of Halloween, on October 31st we have Trick-or-Treat on Sorority Row! Kids from the neighborhood and from Bryan/College Station will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat to the sorority houses. There will be costumes, fun games, and of course LOTS of candy!
About this time, applications for Exec come out and will be due by November 14th! How exciting!!! (..and sad for me!) The week after that, we will be celebrating being #1 IN GRADES with our Scholarship Banquet and are so excited to have Vice President of Student Affairs, General Weber, as our keynote speaker. We have invited some of our finest professors that we wish to recognize at this dinner and banquet. We also will be recognizing our chapter members who have achieved stellar GPAs.
There are many other things happening with Texas Eta this semester—this is just a short list. When I think about the semester in terms of events happening, it makes me feel like it is almost over and that makes me sad. I’ve loved every bit of this last year, and I’m so excited to see where Pi Phi goes once I am no longer in office. I do, however, know what I will be doing on Founder’s Day in April, and that is getting married! That’s right, ladies.. in case you haven’t heard, I got engaged on October 1st, and we are planning our wedding for April 28th. On purpose? I wish I could say yes, but now- just worked out that way. But, if you do the math, and I think I will since I am going to be a math teacher…
Chapter President + Engagement = Wedding on Pi Phi Founder’s Day!
I will leave you with that, Pi Phis! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week. Good luck on tests and have fun with all the special events this week :) I couldn’t be more proud!
The Dillard’s event is this Sunday from 6:30-8:30 pm. GO!!!!!!
There will be a $1000 donation to the philanthropy of the chapter that has the most attendance! There will be sign in table for each sorority. They will be giving away great prizes every 15 minutes! This is a great way to support the Dillard’s in College Station while getting to know some women from other chapters.

****TARGET HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!!!!! START FINDING YOUR TARGET!****
Did you miss meeting??? If so, I am going to contact you with who your target is. If you are not going to participate tell me ASAP so I can remove you from the game and get it fixed. Do you have no idea what I’m talking about? Here’s an explanation…
Each of you have received an envelope in your folder. The slip inside this envelope is TOP SECRET. Do not show it to anyone!!! Your target is the person in your pledge class who you will now be stalking to find an opportune moment to shoot with your rubberband. Each pledge class is playing, and targeting only people in their own pledge class. So PC ’11 is only playing with girls in PC ’11, etc. This is basically an interconnected web. You are being targeted by someone, and you are targeting someone else. You are trying to avoid being hit by the person tracking you, while trying to track down your target. Once you have shot your target, you then take up that person’s target and start trying to shoot the next person. Ex. You are being tracked by person A, you are person B, and your target is person C, and their target is person D. You shoot person C and they are eliminated from the game, so they reveal to you who their target is and your new target becomes person D. Eventually the game will dwindle down from eliminations until there is only 1 winner left in each pledge class. The winners will receive a prize and awesome bragging rights. You have one month to complete this mission. The game begins tonight 30 minutes after meeting is over, and lasts until October 31 at meeting and the winners will be announced.
Rules: · Only use soft hair rubberbands-no rubber rubber bands · Shoot from at least 2 feet away to avoid hurting someone · No shooting targets 30 minutes before or after Monday night meetings or DTA or exec meetings · Defense mechanism: If your target hits you with a rubberband during an attack, you are frozen for 5 hours and cannot attack your target again until the 5 hours are up. · No targets in: -class/classrooms (including prof offices and labs) -in the bedrooms or bathrooms of the Pi Phi house -inside libraries -inside churches or Bible studies -anywhere inappropriate… · Other than that targets can be made anywhere at any time. · People can be killed in their sleep as long as it is not in a bedroom at the Pi Phi house · Time Limit of game lasts 1 month · Last person in each pledge class who has not been shot is the winner! And the winners get a prize!
Helpful Hints: · Stalking is definitely ALLOWED ;) Get yo creep on! Always have a rubber band on your wrist so you can defend yourself if under attack! · Use the new directories we got to ask your target’s roomies about her schedule! · Wait for people outside their classes, houses, or dorms. · Be creative with how you target someone
